Daily Reckoning Australia Online Media Kit

Who Are We?

The Daily Reckoning is a financial e-mail newsletter published in 7 countries to almost 1 million readers. The Australian edition, started in 2006, offers an independent and critical perspective on the Australian and global investment markets.

Five times a week we publish world-class financial, geopolitical and most importantly, practical insight into the best investment ideas not covered by mainstream sources.

Slightly offbeat and far from institutional, The Daily Reckoning delivers straightforward, useful investment insights from a worldwide network of analysts, contrarians and successful investors.

Our readers are active individual investors who tend to be bearish towards the market.

The People Behind the Daily Reckoning:

Each issue of the Daily Reckoning consists of three major parts:

  1. The issue begins with the local market covered by Dan Denning
  2. the local notes are followed by notes from the founder of the Daily Reckoning, Bill Bonner
  3. the essay, usually a big-picture look at a prevalent investment news story.

Bios for our primary writers, Dan Denning and Bill Bonner, are below. The essays come from a bank of 30 + writers. See the full cast of characters.

Dan Denning: Dan Denning started his financial career the old fashioned way: on the ground floor. He founded and edited a private financial newsletter on small-capitalisation stocks in 1998, leading over 35,000 subscribers to profits in dynamic new American companies during the height of the dot com bull market..

In June 2005, Dan Denning authored the New York Times Best Selling book, The Bull Hunter: Tracking Today's Hottest Investments (John Wiley & Sons New York, London). From 2000 to 2006, Dan was the editor of Strategic Investments, the flagship publication of internationally known Agora Publishing. In this role, his high-level macro-economic and stock-market forecasts were read by more than 35,000 high-dollar investors and fund managers in over 70 countries. His reporting and analysis for The Daily Reckoning is read by almost 1,000,000 people regularly. Dan is also a regular columnist for Money Weekly, a Taiwanese financial publication.

Dan Denning received his undergraduate degree in literature from the prestigious American University in Washington, D.C. in 1995. He earned a master's degree in the Liberal Arts from St. John's College. Denning spent some time observing US markets from the London offices of Fleet Street Publications. Dan's latest project has him currently residing in Australia where he writes for the Australian edition of The Daily Reckoning in addition to being the editor and investment director for two publications: Australian Small-Cap Investigator & Outstanding Investments.

Bill Bonner: Since founding Agora Inc. in 1979, Bill Bonner has found success and garnered camaraderie in numerous communities and industries. A man of many talents, his entrepreneurial savvy, unique writings, philanthropic undertakings and preservationist activities have all been recognised and awarded by some of America's most respected authorities.

Bill has authored or co-authored three New York Times Best Selling books: Financial Reckoning Day, Empire of Debt and Mobs, Messiahs & Markets. The works were critically acclaimed and internationally distributed. Since 1999, Bill has also been the driving force behind The Daily Reckoning. Today, almost 1,000,000 subscribers read Bill's daily columns.

Bill is the proud father of six children. Today he lives at his home in London with his wife, Elizabeth, and the four children still young enough to need their Dad's advice on a daily basis.

Financial Reckoning Day: Survivng The Soft Depression of The 21st Century
(John Wiley & Sons New York, London)

Empire of Debt: The Rise Of An Epic Financial Crisis

What Our Readers Have Said:

"I don't even bother reading the mainstream newspapers anymore. I get all my good reads from you guys! champagne quality journalism, well done."

~ Posted by Anthony on our website - 19 March 2007

"Thanks for finally providing something decent to read on the web. Most financial sites rehash the same old crapola day after day... you know, Telstra down 2 cents, retail sales up 0.00000001%, the irrelevant daily noise of the market, the total obsession with the top 100 stocks (especially the banks and the property sector) etc. etc...

"As a (long-term) trader in micro cap and junior explorers - I love the topics you cover. Big picture, major themes, demographic changes, intellectual reasoning, thought-provoking discussions etc. etc.

"Outstanding work - keep it up."

~ Via e-mail from Ivan P. - 18 January 2007

"I look forward to reading your emails for years to come. Don't change them a bit."

~ Via e-mail from Peter G. - 3 November 2007 referring to Bill Bonners latest book, Mobs, Messiahs & Markets

"Thanks for the considerable effort you put into your "Daily Reckoning". I enjoy reading your emails each day and find them very thought provoking and right on the mark.
