Very enjoyable article but a little over-simplified. Gold is the nearest to being a true value. Paper instruments are perceptions of value which can change dramatically with the integrity of the person or agency who signs the document in order to validate same. The use of derivatives, which many attorneys cannot decipher, to shore up global markets reminds one of John Law and Louisiana Futures.
