Hummer's promotional motto - "Now Get Lost". And as fate would have it...

Global Warming - wonderful. It's like god paying for my winter heating bill. I'll be screwed during summer though. Never a one-sided coin.

High diesel - a respite. For the first time in a long time, I didn't have myself jammed between a 70-tonne road-train and a V-12 off-roader breathing down the neck of my petite Mazda 121 Astina during peak morning rush hour.

Public insurrection - isn't democracy wonderful? Political unrest keeps the embattled statesman on the edge of his seat.

When much of the existing redundant energy intensive infrastructure which rely on fossil fuels are phased out or scaled back then that may offer respite. The supply side of things much too vague and unpredictable to construe anything reliable. Organic retreat in demand is the most plausible near term outcome, irrespective of choice, and even the most disgruntled have been quick to come to terms with this new reality.
