I haf spoken many times to Telstra and haf been very very happy with the fwont office customer support. They haf chosen their people well, no doubt becos of the emotions they would deal with from the customers. I know that when they say "No Peirre, I cannot do that!" that they mean it. It is impossible. No matter how hard they try to change the way the system works, alas, to no avail - it is impregnable.
I do not work for Telstra, nor have any friends at Telstra, nor have I been anything but a customer of Telstra.

Oh yes. Telstra and the well named Big Pond ...sludge, slime and all the putrid stench that comes included. A company none too shy. How's this for public relations? My rellies stayed at my unused country home (although they said they would, they did not pay rent ... you get that). They connected the phone in their name but did not pay the bill. What did nasty old Telstra do? They sent ME the bill. Why? Because they 'found out' that the home owner had the same surname as the occupants with the phone bill! When I refused to pay, they cut MY phone off! It took six months for the Ombudsman to intervene and stop their nonsense. Anyone ever see the Four Corners story about Telstra employees, mental state and rate of suicide? Like to see the stats on their customers and shareholders. To this day, despite writing to them asking them not to, I still get marketing calls from Telstra. Honestly, if they were the only comm. company around, I'd start training pidgeons.

KBaus,

Anything could be considered spam as I'm sure BigPond has no idea whether you signed up to the DR or not so it just has to do the best based on what comes through the door. I'd also guess that when the spam filter sees the great free daily wrapup from Dan et al that it doesn't blink an eye.

But I must say I've always wondered why the the other emails that get sent out are so ... well to be frank.. spamlike. i.e. they've got that pattern of big test little text. words like "Hi, my name is" "Give me 8 minutes and I'll show you how you can.. "and as a result turn me off immediately. I'm sure the content of the subscriptions are as good if not better than any other out there but personally I could never sign up with a hook like that. If I think its spam (even when I know its not) then I'm sure it sets of BigPond's alarm bells and next thing you know the DR's IP is blacklisted and everything from the DR gets junked at the door. To be expected at some point I would have thought.

My dealings with Telstra have been experiences of negligence, lethargy and miscommunication. When you deal with Telstra your time is their time until they decide to let you have it back. They are a semi-government sponsored agent and so are morally superior to all of us. Expect action no time soon.

I wonder that as a trader I could infer losses due to Telstra unilaterally cutting out access to some of the analysis I consider important. Is an electronic newsletter a spam?

Should be fixed, I had 66.227.62.103 whitelisted. Spam has been increasing lately and the email was triggering some tighter filtering settings. If you have more outbound mail servers, can you send me the IP's and I'll ask the appropriate team to have them whitelisted.

I'm thankful that some endeavour has been undertaken to resolve this matter with Bigpond. I have even
tried setting up gmail as an alternative but Bigpond, as my ISP,is obviously blocking that also. Only the introductory letters came through.
