As a result of the alchemists efforts we discovered the periodic table, which led to the atom bomb. There is a fair bit of gold residue after detonating an atom bomb, and the world went through its best phase in history during the baby boom years after wwII. Ironically, in fear of nuclear war, people made an effort to work honestly. Actually my comment is leading nowhere at all, except perhaps to point out, that it is enlightenment that we seek, not necesarily gold. Perhaps it would be better to study philosophy than banking?
