Who will buy the bonds when the US government wishes to sell them? China already holds a heap and are swapping their US reserves for real assets as pointed out in other articles in this website.

If no one is willing to buy, aren't the US stuffed and therefore the world?

I agree GaryB.

The imbalance between the wealth producing East versus the wealth consuming West can only be redrawn by hard work and a containment in expenditure in the West.

Unfortunately this is not politically palettable and so we have the only other option, default on the debt to the East.

Wars have started for less.

Like your extended metaphor for money, Mr Bonner. If Shakespeare, the champion of the extended metaphor, had known any physics he'd have been proud of that one. Re QE being an act of counterfeiting, it's hard to believe the Chinese won't retaliate against the US's QE because it seems to be no more than a dirty trick aimed at depreciating Chinese-held US debt.
