Mireille,

Where is it going? Into thin air, why? because that is where it came from. It is called fiat money. Mind you, just because it never really existed in the first place, doesn't mean your creditor won't want it back.

Mireille, if the US collapses the world goes with it. It's as simple as that. If you want to know why outsiders would keep the US system running, look no further than self preservation. Who do you think buys all the stuff that China makes?
Ruin your customers, ruin your business.

supporting the inflation line, is the fed's wobbly collateral & balance sheet starting to weigh on UST's? With swap spreads up, equities up, and bonds south, the market seems to be saying that equities other than the financials, despite the near term earnings outlook, are in fact the last chance of a safe haven.

you know it becomes really clear every day how this corrupt US regime has, is, and fosters, stealing from the whole world, not just Americans. Whoever gets this money they syphoned off from everyone ( by the way, I wonder still why China at such an early juncture fused capital into Wall Street investment banks, what part of the plan is this fulfilling? or are they not so bright?), what will they do with it? what if they died tomorrow? where is it going?

Oh-no Mogambo! Where's the crazy acronyms? I miss them.

As for US stocks not being sold off, in the face of earnings downgrades...I don't think anyone should underestimate the ability of investors to hope that they will go back up again. Hey, all they have to do is hold on to them for a while and the market will pick up...right? Ha. Besides, no-one likes to sell in the red, it's like admitting defeat.
-begin sarcasm-
And Americans never get defeated, they are the world leaders in everything that could possibly exist.
-end sarcasm-

In the cycle of investor emotions that occurs when bubbles burst, we are not even close to the panic, capitulation or desperation stages yet (although I bet Bear Stearns staff are a bit ahead on this one).
