Haha.
More great work, Dan.
I'm a final year student of Finance and Econometrics at UNSW and hearing you talk of a market returning to fundamentals is encouraging. Constantly I'm told that whilst CAPM, betas, Markowitz, CFs, Balance Sheets, BoP's and Index data are all working in theory, I'm again told that it'll all become irrelevant once I'm snapped up by the industry. Reinforcing this is research into the market failures of the Black–Scholes float.

Thanks for helping to restore my faith in tertiary financial education.

You state “The strike at the refinery is a 'finance' issue. The employees apparently want better pensions."

I believe the employees want to retain their existing pensions not gain new ones. It has not been demonstrated that this move by Ineos PLC is anything other than another attempt by a powerful employer to concentrate more power in the hands of the few at the expense of the many and the public be damned.

It is one thing to ask for something and not get it, a better pension; quite another to have an existing pension taken away from you wihtout demonstrating that the move is required. The burden of proof is on Ineos PLC and it has not been met.

How about a financie article about Ineos PLC with a goal to resolve this issue so that we can better understand what is happening here?
