Playing out the CEO game as you did the hedge fund manager, the CEO does anything possible ( and Enron showed there is a lot possible ) to goose the numbers. After five years of good numbers, any CEO worth a damn has the Board in his pocket and negotiates a Golden Parachute for when the house of cards crumbles... Add this to the fact corporate management is in the same high-risk high-return mode and you have the makings for, well, what is happening now.
