This is not a value-based argument. But it IS an argument for why nominal gains in stock markets are not inconsistent with rampant or even hyper inflation. We’re not saying that’s what’s going on right now. And of course, in our one-two Big Crash dance card, asset deflation precedes the Melt Up.

This highlights what many people are now saying openly: the end is near for the U.S. dollar as the world’s preferred reserve currency. The dollar isn’t going away, of course. But already the Chinese have set up currency swaps to conduct bi-lateral trade with larger trading partners. These transactions are outside the dollar.

Future Fund ‘Borrowing’ Program Amounts to Theft
All attempts to reflate the system are failing. Leverage is collapsing. Next on the docket is a series of interest rate cuts by Central Banks. They RBA will probably lead off that global parade today at 2:30pm in Sydney. How big will the cut be? It will be 50 basis points for sure. But if the RBA really wants to make a splash-and give the banks room to pass on the reduction to borrowers-it will be a full percentage point.
