As the main rival (amongst paper currencies) to the dollar as a global reserve currency, the euro’s coming collapse has to, almost by definition, equal dollar strength. There just aren’t that many more liquid alternatives for large institutions and central banks.

US Dollar As Reserve Currency Not Working Very Well
Their report makes some of the right noises, “The dollar-based reserve system is increasingly challenged.” Hmm, a slight understatement there. If “increasingly challenged” is a euphemism for “dead” then we’d agree.
But we don’t think that’s what they mean.

The Achilles’ Heel of the Entire World Financial System
The moral of this story is that you have to go all the way. If you want your baby to be invulnerable, put him all the way under the water…even the heels. Or, maybe there’s another point: that there’s always some place where you’re vulnerable.

Is China Trying to Back its Currency With Metal?
A smattering of articles in recent weeks has highlighted the stockpiling of metals by the China State Reserves Bureau. The Bureau scarfed up 329,000 tonnes of copper in February and 375,000 tonnes in March.
