The fed is still in control because they control the dollar, which is still regarded as the world reserve currency use to buy/sell oil. But, the day that the world turns to another currency or monetary union could be coming in the next few years. The fed has printed too many dollars to stop the world from turning against the dollar or fighting inflation.
