Well, I don't mention the content of this article, just wanna blame Bill Bonner for one word he used in his writing: "Annamites". Sorry, Bill, please remember Vietnam is not a French colony any more, and to tell the truth, mind your head once you say this word in Vietnam. This word is intolerable. You guys should be very careful with your wording!

Mr. Bill Bonner,

I know that you are trying to be funny. But the term “state bank of the Annamites” is extremely insulting to the Vietnamese people. How dare you? Million Vietnamese people had been ready to die just not to be called the Annamite.

You can laugh at the government. You can make money out of their stupidity or backwardness. Fair enough. Just do not call the Vietnamese “The Annamite”.

Anyway, your article is a cheap joke with a lot of flaws in it

This is very interesting. What are the other nations going to do? Who is next to stop the sales of gold? I guess I need to buy all the gold I can before it becomes illegal.

If gold is off their menu for the time being, other commodities could still be used as substitute in the interim (though I reckon prices for foodstuffs like rice and cooking oil are bound to take a dive some time soon). In a world where currencies like the 'Dong' and the USD are eons away from being the next best alternatives in preserving assets' real values and purchasing power, withholding rights to procure gold from domestic buyers does next to nothing in terms of resuscitating the ailing Vietnamese currency. Prohibitions never work when they act against the will of the majority - even under communism.
