What does St Barbara Ltd do?

St Barbara Ltd [ASX:SBM] is an Australian gold explorer and producer. They are producing gold from mines in Western Australia and in Papua New Guinea.

Full Year Results

The company announced full year results recently on August 25. Net profit after tax for FY15 was $42 million compared to a $34 million loss from the previous year. Take note that for the second half of the financial year, the company posted a net profit after tax of $56 million. Quite a turnaround and a strong second half for this company, as gold production was well above expectations.

This stock is finding resistance at around 60 cents and support at around 40 cents. Divorced of all the stories that gives you almost all you need to know about this company, in terms of guiding your investment decisions.

As mentioned above, this company announced a big second half year result. But can you see from looking at the chart that the market already knew that result well in advance? It was old news to the market.
