We discovered the Worldmapper Project while doing some research for the Daily Reckoning earlier this week. It's extremely informative and, well, a lot of fun... perhaps addictive. According to the description on the site, "Worldmapper is a collection of world maps, where territories are re-sized on each map according to the subject of interest."
For example, the map below scales the country size based on the amount of fresh water available there. As you can see from the map, South America and the Asia/Pacific region have the most reserves while Australia is a small speck comparatively. It appears even Madagascar has more fresh water than us.
Another map, below, scales the country size based on the proportion of worldwide nuclear electricity production that occurs there. If John Howard has his way Oz will be bigger than the U.S. Do you agree with the PM? Give us your feedback via the poll in the top right corner of this web page.
