maybe US gov should consider ti invest more (i mean raise the precentage) to real sector

in these days.........it is very dangerous if their gov continues giving fund to banks
it could be a disaster someday........i mean the bankers can flee with the money
it will be like BLBI scandal in indonesia..............

The Internet was designed to survive nuclear war, I think it can survive the credit crunch. Google is just one corner of the Internet, where the computers are busy indexing the other computers. They don't own or operate the whole thing, and if they ever ceased to be, the rest of the network would still function.

The internet is not owned by a specific company like GOOG, YHOO, or EBAY. The internet will still continue even if an internet company unfortunately went belly up. It's like if Dasani (branded by KO) went bankrupt, there would still be water available, just none as perfectly delicious as Dasani.

With that said, it's true many folks are walking away from google, and some people aren't willing to pay as much as they used to because of recent events like the possibility of microsoft buying yahoo. The company is suffering from what investors call an "I love the company but I hate the stock" complex. Google is still a great company, and an investor will always be willing to invest in competitive companies for the right price. Investors are just waiting for that right price.

In essence, a market crash doesn't mean the Dow Jones market will drop from 14,000 to zero, it's more like a correction because the assumptions investors had in the past are no longer true. So far, the correction has only been from 14,000 to 12,000 so far.

An easier way is by imagining companies like houses. For instance, people will always need a house in Los Angeles. The only difference is how much a person is willing to pay. If a house becomes overpriced, it goes down in value. But the house won't become worthless. For the right price, someone will always be willing and able to buy it.

It's what we call the nature of efficient markets.

Are you serious?

Even though it wouldnt happen, at the very worst Google would be sold off, brand name and all to someone else (Eg Microsoft). Although if it was Microsoft, they would probably redirect all the traffic to MSN or something lame like that.

Google is not just a single service of search engine. They own youtube, google earth, google finance, all sorts of stuff, especially their google advertising component. If they got into real trouble, which they wont, they could sell off some of these components. They would never sell or lose their search engine, it is their base of business, where they started, and it has an extremely strong market share that will not change anytime soon.

Christina...please don't ever invest in the stock market. In the meantime, you need to worry about the sky falling and there might not be any sky. Just ground and space... No, google is not going to collapse one day..but it could decline further. Google by the way is not the Internet, but Al Gore did invent the internet.

You know how it says to get out of US stocks like google, well, does that mean that google could collapse one day if the stock market crashes, and then there would be no more google? Could that happen? If it did, does that mean there would be no more internet?
